Adelheid von Maltitz has been the Academic Head of the Fine Arts department at the Univeristy of the Free State since 2019.

In 2017 she received the Runner-Up Award, Sasol New Signatures Top 100: discovering South Africa’s emerging artists, and she was a finalist in the Barclays l’Atelier Top 100: art needs you, award in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

In 2014 she was invited to participate in the South Africa: 10 by 12 @ SA, Contemporary Artists from South Africa, Benetton Foundation exhibition at Museo Bilotti, Rome, Italy.

In 2021 she won one of the three Absa L’Atelier Ambassador awards, among entrants from twelve countries.
